EYE ON DESIGN is the curriculum I’ve been teaching at the Arts Council for Long Beach, CA for decades. www.artslb.org

During the pandemic, I developed Art Kits with watercolor mosaic lessons so the students and community could continue to express themselves. We are now on Phase 4 of those Art Kits and have distributed 4000+

Frida Graduates High School

Residency at NEW VILLAGE ACADEMY in Los Angeles, with high school students who were pregnant or mothering. Their dream was to graduate high school so we chose Frida Kahlo as their representative. Thanks to Peqqy Zask’s ceramics class at Mira Costa for the diploma.

were the solutions to STRESS, that Rogers Middle School students in Marian Seiders’ art class came up after defining Child Abuse as a problem in their neighborhood.

2016 First Tuesdays in Lomita, CA

Instruction and mini lecture kick off this monthly gathering for anyone interested in learning more about mosaics and contributing to a community project.

My role: I guided you in participating in community art project. RSVP and you will receive address.

Piece By Piece - Los Angeles, CA

PIECE BY PIECE was lovingly started by Sophie Alpert and her extended network of family, friends, and generous supporters as a cottage industry to teach recently homeless families to make mosaics, and sell them to support themselves and to lift their spirits and offer skills and a much needed creative outlet.

I have been very fortunate to be a part of this organization from the beginning in 2005. What follows are photos of projects we’ve done together..only the tip of the iceberg for PIECE BY PIECE.
